    • Focus mode is a useful feature in Power BI. Still, in a presentation, the function may pose some problems for those who view the report.

    So, many people want to know if there is a way to disable focus mode. One user reported the following on the official forum:

    Is there a way to turn off “Focus mode” in presentations?  I have slicers that the filter, focus mode, and more options become available after selecting something within that slicer. There is no reason for the person viewing the report to select any of these option so was wondering if these options can be hidden somehow.  

    The main issue here is that some options are not hidden while presenting a report. A person viewing the presentation doesn’t need to select the options listed above by the OP.

    Steps to disable Focus mode in Power BI

  • Go to the Format pane in Visualizations.
  • Select Visual header.power bi visual header
  • Turn off Focus mode icon.power bi focus mode icon

    • It’s worth mentioning that if you are in editor mode (in Power BI Desktop), the changes will appear after publishing, in the reading mode.

    Focus mode or full-screen mode? Which one will you choose?

    Choosing focus mode over full-screen mode (or the other way around) depends entirely on the context. If you want to remove all the panes around your content, then the full-screen mode is the right choice.

    The full-screen mode allows you to have a broader image of your data, but the interaction is lacking. Simply put, you just read charts, diagrams, numbers, and anything relevant to your data.

    However, if you want to interact with the information, then the focus mode will definitely help you. For example, it will let you expand a visual or tile to see more detail.
