    2. Adjust Black Ops’ mouse settings

  • Launch the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War game.
  • Open the settings screen within Black Ops.
  • Select the Keyboard and Mouse tab shown directly below.

  • Set the Mouse Filter and Mouse Acceleration values to 0.
  • Disable the Mouse Smoothing setting if it’s not already.
  • Experiment with different Sensitivity bar values to see if you can reduce mouse lag with that option.
  • After making these adjustments, check if mouse lag is gone in Black Ops Cold War.

    3. Disable the Realtek Audio process

  • Right-click the taskbar to select Task Manager on its context menu.

  • If your PC has a NVIDIA High Definition Audio Manager process, right-click that and select End task.
  • Then exit Task Manager.
  • 4. Plug your mouse in a different USB port

    Plug your mouse into a different USB port on your desktop or laptop. If you have other non-essential USB devices plugged into your PC, such as a flash drive or camera, unplug all of them.

  • Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand that category.
  • Double-click USB Root Hub to open its properties window.
  • Select the Power Management tab in the snapshot directly below.

  • Then deselect the Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power checkbox.
  • Press the OK button to exit the window.
  • Start the game again and check if the mouse lag still appears in Black Ops Cold War.

    6. Disable mouse pointer options

  • First, open the Control Panel as outlined for the first three steps of resolution five.
  • Select Mouse to open the window in the shot directly below.

  • Deselect the Enhance pointer precision checkbox if selected.
  • Uncheck a selected Display pointer trails checkbox.
  • Click the Apply option to save the settings.
  • Press the OK button to close the Mouse Properties window.
  • Note: If you’re utilizing a Logitech mouse, also disable its Smart Move feature. You can disable Smart Move on the Mouse Movement tab within the Logitech SetPoint settings software.

    7. Change the mouse’s report rate

  • First, open your mouse settings software.
  • Open the mouse options within the software.
  • Then look for report (or polling) rate sensitivity options within your mouse software like the ones in the screenshot directly below.

  • Save your selected settings, and close your mouse configuration software.
