  • Apparently, Microsoft is slowly pushing a weather tile to the Search UI in Windows 10. But some users are not happy with the server-side update that started rolling out a few days ago.

While the OS has a built-in weather app, the latest alternative is ideal for users that seek real-time weather updates.

New weather tile in Windows 10 search

You’ll soon be able to access the weather forecast for your location in the Search pane of Windows 10.

Some insiders have started receiving the server-side update, such as Reddit user Vendetta_47, who shared a screenshot of the feature to the Windows 10 Subreddit. The user said that they’re on version 1909 in the release preview channel.

In addition, the new weather tile in Windows Search is rolling out to all users in the coming days. You can try rebooting your PC to see if the feature is available already.

However, it seems that some users didn’t receive this news too well, based on their feedback on Reddit.

For example, this user argues that weather updates are sometimes an abuse of AI.

All of these companies are obsessed with AI, and what do we see from the fruit of most of this labor? Weather. It’s always weather. These companies are obsessed with the weather, am I the only one who doesn’t check the weather 24/7?

Others are eager to use the new weather tile in Windows search, though. One such user reports that the feature isn’t getting their location right.

But it appears you can manually set your location to receive more accurate and relevant weather information. Simply navigate to Settings>Privacy>Location.

It’s not uncommon for Microsoft to use Windows Search for purposes other than its core function. Just the other day, some users reported encountering Microsoft Edge recommendations when looking upChrome or Firefox via the Windows 10 Search UI.
